Shawon Dunston

Shawon Dunston was an outfielder for the Mets in 1999. He played in 42 regular season and nine post-season games with the team. Dunston had a .344 batting average as a Met.

In '99, Dunston came to the Mets in a trade with the Cardinals on July 31. He collected 40 total bases over the rest of the season. In his Mets debut on August 2, Shawon had a single and a run scored in a 7-2 win at Milwaukee. He singled three times and stole two bases in the Mets' 10-3 victory over the Brewers the next day. Dunston had a single, a double and two runs scored in a 6-3 Mets win at Arizona on August 27. He singled, doubled and drove in three runs in the Mets' 10-3 triumph at Los Angeles on September 12. Shawon had two singles and a double in a 9-3 Mets loss to the Braves on September 28 at Shea. He also singled and scored the winning run in the 11th inning in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Pirates at Shea on October 1.

In 2000, Dunston rejoined the Cardinals as a free agent. He then played two seasons with the Giants to conclude his 18-year major league career.
