Shaun Fitzmaurice

Shaun Fitzmaurice was an outfielder for the Mets in 1966. He played in nine games with the team. Fitzmaurice had two singles and two runs scored as a Met.

In his major league debut on September 9, 1966, Fitzmaurice was the Mets' starting center fielder and leadoff hitter in the team's 8-3 loss to the Braves at Shea Stadium. At San Francisco on September 16, he had a stolen base and scored a run in a 5-4 Mets win over the Giants. Shaun singled for his first major league hit in a 4-1 Mets defeat to the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea on September 28. He also singled and scored the Mets' only run of a 6-1 loss to the Astros in a doubleheader opener at Shea on October 2.

Fitzmaurice played for the Mets' AAA-level team in Jacksonville in 1967. He continued his career in the minor league systems of the Yankees, Pirates and Braves until 1973.
