The Mets and Brewers were tied in the last day of the season. The Brewers won there game so it was all up to the Mets to win the game if they wanted to keep there playoff hopes alive.
After the Marlins scored two runs in the top of the sixth against starting pitcher Oliver Perez, Carlos Beltran hit a two run homer in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
Mets RP Scott Schoeneweis blew the game in the 8th inning giving up two home runs, one to Dan Uggla and one to Wes Wes Helms.
In the Mets last chance to come back and save there season in the bottom of the 9th the Mets against the Marlins closer Matt Lindstrom, after David Wright and Endy Chavez got out, Damion Easley walked and Ryan Church came up as the tying run with two outs. On the 1-0 count Ryan hit the ball to deep Center Field and Cameron Maybin got the ball to end the game and the Mets season
They ended up losing the East by three games and the Wild Card by one game. The main factor of the fall was the bullpen who kept on losing games in late innings. It was the second year that the Mets did not make the playoffs due to a late season Mets collapse
