1962: Choo Choo Coleman hits a home run in the 9th inning to give the Mets a 10-9 win over the Reds at the Polo Grounds.
1963: Cleon Jones makes his major league debut. Cleon plays center field in the 9th inning of the Mets' 4-0 loss to the Houston Colt .45s at the Polo Grounds.
1977: Nino Espinosa pitches a three-hit shutout and singles in the only run for a 1-0 Mets win over the Phillies at Philadelphia. In the game, Luis Rosado gets his first major league hit and scores the only run of his career on Espinosa's hit.
1978: The Mets come back from a six-run deficit to defeat the Expos, 7-6.
1991: The Mets lose to the Cardinals, 2-1, despite a combined one-hitter by David Cone and Jeff Innis.
1995: Rico Brogna hits a two-run homer in the fifth inning to put the Mets ahead to stay in a 4-2 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.
1996: The Mets defeat the Braves, 6-5, in 12 innings at Shea Stadium. Todd Hundley hits his 41st home run of the season to set a new record for catchers. Hundley's homer ties the game in the seventh.
1998: The Mets defeat the Astros, 7-4, in 13 innings at Houston. Brian McRae hits a home run to tie the game in the ninth and a two-run double in the 13th to win it. A total of 25 Met players get into the game to set a team record.
2004: Kris Benson pitches a four-hit shutout as the Mets defeat the Braves, 7-0, at Shea Stadium.
