1963: Tim Harkness hits two home runs, the second coming in the 16th inning, to give the Mets a 6-4 win over the Braves at the Polo Grounds.

1964: Al Jackson pitches a six-hit complete game in a 4-1 Mets win over the Giants at Shea Stadium.

1966: Dennis Ribant pitches a complete game for his tenth win of the season in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Giants at Shea Stadium.

1967: The Mets and Cubs split a doubleheader at Chicago. The Cubs win the first game, 8-2, and the Mets take the second, 3-0. Don Cardwell pitches a shutout and strikes out eleven batters in the nightcap.

1970: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 4-3, in 12 innings at St. Louis. Ron Herbel, (acquired from San Diego earlier in the day) gets his first win as a Met.

1974: Tug McGraw pitches a 3-0 shutout over the Atlanta Braves at Shea Stadium. It is the last win for Tug as a Met and the only shutout of his career.

1975: Tom Seaver wins his 20th game of the season with a shutout over the Pirates. Tom also records his 200th strikeout of the year to become the first major league pitcher to reach that total eight years in a row.

1982: The Mets end a 15-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

1985: Gary Carter hits his third home run in as many days.

1990: Julio Valera records the win in his major league debut as the Mets defeat the Giants, 6-5, at Shea Stadium.

1997: The Mets defeat the Blue Jays, 3-0, on Labor Day afternoon at Shea Stadium. Four Met pitchers combine for a two-hit shutout.

1998: Jay Payton makes his major league debut.

2000: Timo Perez makes his major league debut.

2010: Jeff Francoeur is traded to the Texas Rangers for Joaquin Arias.
