Scott Schoeneweis

Scott Schoeneweis was a pitcher for the Mets in 2007 and 2008. He appeared in 143 games with the team. Schoeneweis had two wins, three saves and 75 strikeouts as a Met.

In ’07, Schoeneweis joined the Mets after eight seasons in the major leagues. He pitched 59 innings during the season. At Philadelphia on June 30, Scott struck out two batters in a scoreless sixth inning in the Mets’ 8-3 win over the Phillies. He had three strikeouts in one and one-third scoreless innings pitched for a save in a 9-6 Mets victory at Florida September 21. Schoeneweis also got a save in the Mets’ 7-6 triumph in 11 innings at Florida on September 23.

Schoeneweis had a 3.34 earned run average in ’08. On May 18, he pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish off an 11-2 Mets win over the Yankees. Scott hurled a perfect seventh inning for the win in a 7-3 Mets victory over the Giants on July 10 at Shea Stadium. He recorded a save in a 6-5 Mets triumph over the Padres at Shea on August 5. Schoeneweis was also the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 8-6 victory over the Marlins on August 9 at Shea.

Following the ’08 season, Schoeneweis was traded to the Diamondbacks. He pitched in 45 games with the Arizona team in 2009. Scott also appeared in 15 games for the Red Sox in 2010.
