The Mets and Athletics made a trade during the 1983 season. First baseman Kelvin Moore was acquired by the Mets in exchange for minor league pitcher Scott Dye. Moore had played in 76 games at the major league level with the Oakland team from 1981 to 1983. Dye was in the Mets' system for three years.
Neither player appeared in a major league game after the deal. Moore played in 30 games at AAA-level Tidewater (Norfolk, Virginia) in '83. His career ended two years later in the minor leagues. Dye pitched in 16 games for the Athletics' AAA-level Tacoma team in '83 to conclude his career.
