Sammy Drake was an infielder for the Mets in 1962. He had 10 hits (all singles) in 25 games played during the Mets' inaugural season. Drake had two runs scored and 7 runs batted in as a Met.

Drake was selected by the Mets from the Chicago Cubs in the expansion draft. In '62, he spent much of the year with the Mets' AAA-level team in Syracuse. Sammy got his first major league RBI with a pinch-hit single at Los Angeles on August 7. He singled twice and drove in three runs in the Mets' 8-6 loss to the Colt .45s in the second game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds on September 18. Three days later, Drake drew a bases-loaded walk and hit a single in the Mets' 4-1 win over the Cubs.

After not playing professional baseball in 1963, Sammy appeared in a total of 101 games for White Sox and Mets minor league affiliates over the next two years. He concluded his career with the Mets' AAA-level Buffalo team in 1965.
