Sam Perlozzo

Sam Perlozzo was a coach for the Mets from 1987 to 1989. He served as the third base coach for the team. Perlozzo was a team staff member that had Davey Johnson as manager.

As a player, Perlozzo spent time with the Minnesota Twins and San Diego Padres during the 1970s. In 1981, he played in 33 games for the Mets' AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. Sam was also a manager for four Mets minor league affiliates between 1982 and 1986.

The Mets had a successful run during Perlozzo's time on the coaching staff. The team won 279 regular season games and a division title with his presence. Sam went on to a coaching career with several other major league teams. He also served as manager for the Baltimore Orioles from 2005 to 2007.
