Roy Lee Jackson was a pitcher for the Mets from 1977 to 1980. He had 123 and two-thirds inings pitched in 40 games with the team. Jackson recorded two wins, one save and 87 strikeouts as a Met.
Jackson was signed by the Mets as a free agent in June of 1975. He pitched in the team's minor league system for six seasons, during which he made occasional trips to the parent club. In '77, Roy Lee made his major league debut with five and two-thirds innings in an 8-5 Mets loss at Montreal on September 13. At St. Louis on September 30, 1979, he got his first major league win in the Mets' 4-2 victory over the Cardinals.
In 1980, Jackson made eight starts and 14 relief appearances for the Mets. He had a 4.20 earned run average for the season. At Cincinnati on July 19, Roy Lee pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts in a 13-3 Mets victory over the Reds. In the game, he hit a triple for one of the Mets' 20 hits. Jackson also recorded his first major league save with three shutout innings to close out a 4-2 Mets win over the Cubs at Shea Stadium on September 13, the third anniversary of his debut.
On December 12, 1980, Jackson was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for Bob Bailor. He pitched for the Jays from 1981 to 1984. Roy Lee pitched for the San Diego Padres in 1985. He ended his career with the Minnesota Twins in 1986.
