Ron Herbel

Ron Herbel was a relief pitcher for the Mets in 1970. He appeared in 12 games and had a 1.38 earned run average with the team. Herbel recorded two wins and a save as a Met.
Herbel came to the Mets from the Padres on September 1, 1970. On that day, he pitched a scoreless inning and got the win as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 4-3, in 12 innings at St. Louis. Ron got credit for a save in the Mets' 10-5 win over the Expos at Shea Stadium on September 8. He was also the winning pitcher in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Phillies in 14 innings at Shea on September 10.
On December 1, 1970, Herbel was traded to the Atlanta Braves for Bob Aspromonte. He pitched in 25 games for the Braves in 1971. Ron ended his career with the Minnesota Twins' AAA-level team in Tacoma in 1972.
