Rigo Beltran was a relief pitcher for the Mets in 1998 and 1999. He appeared in 28 games with the team. Beltran recorded 40 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched as a Met.

Beltran came to the Mets in a trade with the Cardinals on March 28, 1998. He spent the ’98 season at AAA-level Norfolk before joining the Mets in September. Rigo pitched a scoreless seventh inning in a 7-4 Mets win at Houston on September 14.

In 1999, Beltran made 21 relief appearances as a Met. He struck out the side in order in the ninth inning of the Mets' 8-1 win over the Marlins at Shea Stadium on April 12. Rigo pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings to finish off a 10-1 Mets win over the Brewers in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium on May 20. He had a pair of scoreless innings and was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 5-4 victory over the Phillies on May 23 at Shea. Beltran also struck out four batters in one and one-third innings of a 9-8 Mets win over the Yankees at Shea on July 10.

On July 31, 1999, Beltran was traded to the Colorado Rockies. He appeared in 12 games for the Rockies over the rest of the ’99 season and in one game as a starter in 2000. Rigo also pitched in two games for the Montreal Expos in 2004.
