Rick Wilkins

Rick Wilkins was a catcher for the Mets in 1998. He played in five games with the team. Wilkins had two singles and a run batted in as a Met.
Wilkins joined the Mets during his eighth major league season in '98. At Shea Stadium on May 19, he had an RBI single and a run scored in a 5-3 Mets win over the Reds that capped a doubleheader sweep. Rick also singled and scored a run in an 8-6 Mets loss to the Reds one day later at Shea.
With the arrival of Mike Piazza on May 22, Wilkins was sent to the Mets' AAA-level team in Norfolk. He completed the '98 season with the Tides. Rick played for the Dodgers, Cardinals and Padres over the next three years. He ended his career with the Joliet Jackhammers of the independent North Central League in 2002.
