Rick White was a pitcher for the Mets in 2000 and 2001. He made 77 relief appearances for the team. White had six wins (plus one in post-season) and three saves as a Met.

White came to the Mets in a trade with the Devil Rays on July 28, 2000. He pitched 28 and one-third innings over the rest of the regular season. In his debut with the team one day later, Rick pitched a scoreless eighth inning and got the win in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Cardinals at Shea Stadium. He had three scoreless innings pitched for a save in a 6-2 Mets win at Arizona on August 5. White recorded three strikeouts in one and two-thirds scoreless innings for the win in the Mets' 5-3 victory at Los Angeles on August 18. In Game 3 of the National League Division Series on October 7, he pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the win in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Giants in 13 innings at Shea.

In 2001, White pitched in 55 games. He had 51 strikeouts and a 3.88 earned run average during the season. At Baltimore on June 12, Rick pitched three scoreless innings for a save in the Mets' 10-3 win over the Orioles. At Shea on June 19, he pitched a perfect top of the eighth to get the win in a 4-1 Mets victory over the Expos. White had a scoreless inning and got the win in the Mets' 5-4 triumph over the Cubs at Chicago on June 27. At Houston on August 1, he was the winning pitcher in the Mets' 8-2 victory over the Astros in 10 innings. Rick had three strikeouts in one and two-thirds perfect innings for the save in a 4-3 Mets win over the Brewers on August 9 at Shea. He also got the win in the Mets' 12-6 triumph at Montreal on September 27.

White signed with the Rockies as a free agent in 2002. He pitched with nine different major league teams over the next five seasons. Rick concluded his career with the Mariners in 2007.
