Rick Peterson was a coach for the Mets from 2004 to 2008. He served as the team's pitching coach during his five tears on the staff.

Peterson pitched in the minor leagues during the 1970s. He was a coach in the Pirates' organization between 1979 and 1985 before coaching three seasons in the Indians' minor league system. From 1989 to 1994, Rick served as a minor league coach with the White Sox. He later became the Blue Jays' minor league pitching coordinator and pitching coach for the Athletics.

During Peterson's time with the Mets, the team emerged into a division champion in 2006. They had a disappointing second-place finish and failed to reach the post-season one year later. On June 17, 2008, Rick was dismissed by the Mets from his coaching position. In 2010, he served as pitching coach for the Brewers.
