Rick Herrscher

Rick Herrscher was an infielder and outfielder for the Mets in 1962. He played in 35 games and had a .220 batting average.
Herrscher made his major league debut with a pinch-hitting appearance on August 1. In the first game of a doubleheader against the Reds at the Polo Grounds on August 5, he hit a three-run homer for his first major league hit in the Mets' 5-2 victory. Rick had two singles, a run scored and an RBI in the second game of a twinbill against the Pirates on August 20. He also singled, doubled and scored two runs in his final major league game at Milwaukee on September 26.
In 1963 and 1964, Herrscher played 139 games in the Mets' minor league system to conclude his career as a professional player. He later became an orthodontist.
