Rick Cerone

Rick Cerone was a catcher for the Mets in 1991. He played in 90 games in his only season with the team. Cerone batted .273 with two home runs and 16 runs batted in as a Met.
Cerone joined the Mets in '91 after 16 major league seasons. At Shea Stadium on April 9, he hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning in his first at bat with the team. The Mets went on to defeat the Phillies, 2-1, in the 10th. Rick had a single, two doubles and an RBI in the Mets' 6-3 win over the Padres at Shea on April 30. He singled three times and scored a run in a 10-6 Mets victory over the Reds at Shea on June 17. Cerone got two singles and a double in the Mets' 6-5 victory over the Giants on July 17 at Shea. He also homered in the Mets' 6-5 loss at Pittsburgh on September 30.
Cerone concluded his career with the Montreal Expos in 1992.
