Rick Baldwin

Rick Baldwin was a pitcher for the Mets from 1975 to 1977. He made 105 relief appearances for the team. Baldwin recorded four wins and seven saves as a Met.
As a rookie, Baldwin led all Mets pitchers with 54 game appearances in 1975. He posted a 3.33 earned run average for the season. Rick got his first major league win in a 14-7 Mets victory at St. Louis on April 17. He pitched one and one-third scoreless innings for a save in the Mets' 5-3 win at Montreal on April 25. At Philadelphia on July 4, Baldwin pitched a perfect ninth inning for a save in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Phillies. He had three shutout innings to earn the win in a 4-3 Mets triumph over the Braves on July 17 at Shea Stadium. Rick also pitched four innings of one-hit scoreless relief for the win in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Expos in 18 innings at Shea on September 16.
After spending much of the 1976 season in the minor leagues, Baldwin had 62 and two-thirds innings pitched for the Mets in 1977. He chalked up one win and 23 strikeouts for the year. At Shea on June 21, Rick pitched a perfect 11th inning with two strikeouts and got his only win of the season as the Mets defeated the Braves, 5-2. He had a pair of scoreless innings in the Mets' 4-3 win over the Dodgers in 14 innings on August 3 at Shea. Baldwin also recorded a save in his last major league game as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 6-4, in the season closer at St. Louis on October 2.
Baldwin was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the Rule V Draft following the '77 season. He pitched in the minor leagues to conclude his career in 1978.
