Rick Anderson

Rick Anderson was a pitcher for the Mets in 1986. He appeared in 15 games and had a 2.72 earned run average during the team's World Championship season. Anderson recorded two wins and a save with the Mets.
In '86, Anderson made his major league debut against the Phillies on June 9 at Shea Stadium. He pitched seven innings of four-hit ball and struck out five batters in the game. Rick was left with a no-decision as the Mets came out with a 3-2 loss in ten innings.
On August 6, Anderson got his first major league win as the Mets defeated the Cubs, 7-6, at Chicago. Four days later, he pitched three perfect innings for his only major league save in a 7-2 Mets win at Montreal. Rick's only other victory came in the Mets' 5-0 win over the Cubs at Shea on September 18.
On March 27, 1987, Anderson was traded with Ed Hearn and Mauro Gozzo to the Kansas City Royals for David Cone and Chris Jelic. Rick pitched in a total of 13 games for the Royals in 1987 and 1988 before moving on to a career as a coach. In 2002, Anderson became the pitching coach for the Minnesota Twins.
