Richard Hidalgo was an outfielder for the Mets in 2004. He played in 86 games with the team. Hidalgo had 21 home runs and 52 runs batted in during his only season as a Met.

Hidalgo came to the Mets in a trade with the Astros on June 17, 2004. Against the Yankees on June 26, he singled twice and scored a run in the Mets’ 9-3 victory in the Bronx. Richard singled, doubled, homered and drove in three runs in the Mets’ 11-2 win over the Yanks on July 2 at Shea Stadium. He hit a three-run homer in a 5-4 Mets victory over the Expos at Shea on July 21. Hidalgo had a home run, four walks and three runs scored in the Mets’ 10-3 triumph in the first game of a doubleheader at Colorado on August 19. He also had a three-run homer in a 9-4 Mets victory over the Braves on September 16 at Shea.

In 2005, Hidalgo played for the Texas Rangers to finish his career as a major leaguer. He appeared in 30 games with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2008. Richard also played in two games for the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Mexican League in 2009.
