Rich Chiles

Rich Chiles was a center fielder for the Mets in 1973. He played in eight games for the team in April. Chiles had three hits in 25 at bats as a Met.

Chiles came to the Mets with pitcher Buddy Harris from the Astros in a trade for Tommie Agee on November 27, 1972. In '73, he got a double for his first hit with the team on April 12 in a 2-1 win at St. Louis. In the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium on April 22, Rich drove in a run with a double and later singled in the Mets' 13-3 win over the Expos. He also scored a run in a 4-2 Mets loss at Houston on April 24.

In 1976, Chiles returned to the major leagues with the Astros. He played for the Minnesota Twins in 1977 and 1978. Rich ended his career in the minor leagues in 1980.
