Red Kress

Ralph "Red" Kress was a coach for the Mets in 1962. He served on Casey Stengel's staff in the team's inaugural year. Kress concluded a baseball career that spanned parts of five decades with the original Mets.
Kress played in the American League from 1927 to 1940. In 1946, he began a four-year period as a coach with the Giants. Red served on the Cleveland Indians' coaching staff from 1953 to 1960. In 1961, he was a coach with the Los Angeles Angels in their first season.
Kress died on November 29, 1962.
