Randy Tate was a pitcher for the Mets in 1975. He appeared in 26 games with the team. Tate had five wins and 99 strikeouts as a Met.
Tate pitched seven shutout innings in his major league debut at Philadelphia on April 14, 1975. He then allowed three runs in the eighth and got a no-decision in an eventual 4-3 Mets loss to the Phillies. Randy had six scoreless innings pitched and got his first win in a 4-3 Mets victory that completed a doubleheader sweep of the Cubs at Shea Stadium on April 20. He pitched seven innings and got the win in the Mets' 5-1 triumph at Atlanta on May 24. Tate struck out nine batters in a complete game win as the Mets defeated the Phillies, 5-2, on June 28 at Shea. He was the winning pitcher in a 6-3 Mets victory at Chicago on July 25. Randy also pitched a complete game for a 7-2 Mets win at San Diego on August 26.
Tate pitched in the Mets' minor league system in 1976 and 1977. He concluded his career in the Pirates' organization in 1978.
