Preston Wilson was an outfielder for the Mets in 1998. He played in eight games with the team. Wilson had six hits in twenty at bats for a .300 batting average as a Met.
Wilson, who is the stepson and nephew of former Met Mookie Wilson, joined the team from its AAA-level affiliate in Norfolk during the '98 season. In his major league debut on May 7, he had three singles and a run batted in as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 4-1, at Shea Stadium. On May 22, 1998, Wilson was dealt to the Marlins in a trade that brought Mike Piazza to the Mets. He spent five seasons with the Florida team and three with the Colorado Rockies. Preston played for the Nationals, Astros and Cardinals between 2005 and 2007. He also appeared in 48 games with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2009.
