Phil Linz

Phil Linz was an infielder for the Mets in 1967 and 1968. He played in 102 games and had 66 hits with 18 runs batted in. Linz was primarily a second baseman with the Mets.

Linz was acquired from the Phillies in a trade for Chuck Hiller on July 11, 1967. He had 58 at bats with the Mets over the remainder of the '67 season. On July 30, Phil drove in his only Mets run of the year in the team's 6-5 loss at Houston. Two days later, he doubled and scored in the Mets' 5-1 win over the Astros.

Linz had 61 total bases as a part-time player in 1968. On July 6, he had four singles, a double and three RBIs in the Mets' 11-6 win at Philadelphia. One day later, he hit a two-run single in a 4-2 Mets win over the Phillies for a split of a doubleheader. Phil had three singles (one of which drove in two runs) in the Mets' 3-1 win of a twinbill opener on August 10 at San Francisco. Against the Giants on August 20, he drove in two runs with a single and a double in the Mets' 8-0 win at Shea Stadium. Phil also got a run-scoring double for his last major league hit in the Mets' 3-2 win at Philadelphia in the first game of a doubleheader on September 20.
