Phil Hennigan was a relief pitcher for the Mets in 1973. He pitched 43 and one-third innings in 30 game appearances. Hennigan had 22 strikeouts and 3 saves as a Met.
Hennigan was acquired by the Mets from the Cleveland Indians in a trade for Brent Strom and Bob Rauch on November 27, 1972. He recorded a save in his first Mets appearance in '73, preserving a 5-4 win at St. Louis on April 11. One day later, he pitched one and one-third innings of shutout ball for another save in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Cardinals. Hennigan also got a save by retiring three batters with the tying and winning runs on base for a 5-4 Mets win on June 12 at San Francisco.
In 1974, Hennigan pitched in 7 games for the Mets' AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia to end his career.
