Pete Smith was a pitcher for the Mets in 1994. He started 21 games for the team. Smith had four wins and 62 strikeouts as a Met.
Smith joined the Mets after seven seasons with the Atlanta Braves. In his team debut in '94, he pitched seven innings and got the win in a 6-2 Mets victory at Chicago on April 5. Pete was the winning pitcher in the Mets' 7-4 triumph over the Dodgers on May 1 at Shea Stadium. He had a complete game for a 10-2 Mets win over the Reds at Shea on May 27. Smith had seven innings pitched and a win over his former team in a 5-2 Mets victory at Atlanta on June 22. He also had six strikeouts in eight innings in the Mets' 2-0 defeat to the Marlins at Shea that turned out to be the team's final home game of the year due to the players strike.
In 1995, Smith pitched in 11 games for the Cincinnati Reds. He spent a year in the minor leagues before two seasons with the San Diego Padres. Pete completed the 1998 season with the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched the following year in the Cardinals' and Padres' systems to end his career.
