Pete Schourek was a pitcher for the Mets from 1991 to 1993. He recorded 16 wins and 199 strikeouts as a member of the team. Schourek pitched in 98 games with the Mets.

As a rookie in '91, Schourek had a 5-4 won-lost record with a 4.27 earned run average. He made his major league debut with one and one-third scoreless innings in a 2-1 Mets win over the Phillies at Shea Stadium on April 9. At Philadelphia on April 24, Pete pitched three scoreless innings to earn his first win as the Mets defeated the Phils, 7-3. He pitched four innings of shutout relief for a save in a 6-1 Mets win at San Diego on May 14. Schourek hit a two-run double and got his first complete game with a one-hit shutout for a 9-0 Mets victory over the Expos at Shea on September 10. He also struck out 10 batters in six and one-third innings for the win in a 6-4 Mets triumph over the Phillies on September 27 at Shea.

Schourek made 21 starts and one relief appearance in 1992. He pitched a total of 136 innings for the season. At Shea on June 23, Pete got his first win of the year in the Mets' 4-1 victory over the Cubs. He earned another win with five innings of shutout relief in a 3-0 Mets win over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea on August 1. Schourek also pitched eight innings to get the win in a 6-3 Mets triumph on October 2 at Pittsburgh.

In 1993, Schourek appeared in 41 games as a starter and a reliever. He had five wins and 72 strikeouts during the year. Pete earned the win with eight innings pitched in the Mets' 4-0 victory at St. Louis on May 13. He singled twice and was the winning pitcher in a 12-6 Mets triumph on July 18 at San Francisco. Schourek pitched seven shutout innings before giving up a run in the eighth to notch the win in the Mets' 6-1 victory over the Cardinals at Shea on September 28. In the season closer at Florida on October 3, he pitched eight innings for the win as the Mets defeated the Marlins, 9-2.

Schourek was claimed on waivers by the Reds at the start of the 1994 season. He pitched for the Cincinnati club for four years. Pete also pitched for the Red Sox, Astros and Pirates before ending his career in 2001.
