Pete Falcone was a lefthanded pitcher for the Mets from 1979 to 1982. He won 26 games and posted a 3.91 earned run average with the team. Falcone pitched 607 and two-thirds innings in 145 games in his four years in New York.

Falcone came to the Mets in a trade with the Cardinals on December 5, 1978. In the '79 season, he recorded six wins and 113 strikeouts. Pete's first win as a Met was a five-hit shutout over the Pirates in the second game of a doubleheader on June 25 at Shea Stadium. On August 21, he had an apparent complete game shutout for a 5-0 win over the Astros. However, a series of unusual events in the ninth inning forced him to share the shutout with Kevin Kobel. Still, Pete got the win in the game. Falcone also pitched a combined shutout with reliever Neil Allen at Pittsburgh on September 16, dropping the Pirates into a first place tie with the Expos in the National League East Division.

In 1980, Falcone won 7 games and had a team-leading 109 strikeouts. His first win of the season came in the Mets' 5-0 victory over the Cubs on April 13, again combining with Allen for the shutout. He was the winning pitcher over the Astros' J. R. Richard in a 5-1 Mets' win at Shea on May 21. Falcone defeated the Pirates, 3-2, for his only complete game of the season on September 30 at Shea.

Pete had a 5-3 won-lost record in the strike-shortened 1981 season. For the year, he had a 2.55 earned run average. Falcone pitched four and one-third innings of hitless relief for a win in the Mets' 6-2 victory over the Padres at Shea on May 2. He recorded his only save of the season in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Cubs on May 31 at Shea. In a game at Philadelphia on September 29, Pete pitched a four-hit shutout in defeating the Phillies, 7-0. In this game, he had a home run and a two-run single to help his own cause. It was the Mets' only complete game shutout of '81.

Falcone led the Mets with 171 innings pitched and 101 strikeouts in 1982. He also had eight wins for the year. Pete pitched five shutout innings and picked up the win in the Mets' 5-4 victory in 15 innings at San Diego on April 28. Falcone pitched a complete game six-hitter in beating the Astros, 5-1, at Shea on September 1, ending the Mets' 15-game losing streak. Pete got his last win as a Met with a 4-1 complete game over the eventual World Champion Cardinals at St. Louis on September 12.

In January of 1983, Falcone signed with the Atlanta Braves as a free agent. He pitched two seasons with the Braves to conclude his career.
