Pedro Astacio was a pitcher for the Mets in 2002 and 2003. He made 38 starts for the team. Astacio had a 15-13 won-lost record with 172 strikeouts as a Met.

Astacio joined the Mets as a free agent after ten seasons in the major leagues. In ’02, he accumulated 191 and two-thirds innings pitched and led the team with three complete games. At Shea Stadium on April 16, Pedro had a complete game win with eight strikeouts in the Mets’ 3-1 victory over the Braves. He struck out nine batters and pitched a two-hit shutout for a 3-0 Mets win at Los Angeles on May 14. Astacio hurled seven innings and got the win in a 3-1 Mets triumph over the White Sox at Chicago on June 10. He pitched seven innings for the win in a 4-2 Mets victory over the Phillies on July 14 at Shea. Pedro recorded ten strikeouts in a three-hit complete game for the win in the Mets’ 5-1 victory at Milwaukee on August 6. He also pitched six innings and got the win in an 11-3 Mets triumph over the Marlins on September 4 at Shea.

In ’03, Astacio appeared in seven games with the Mets. He chalked up three wins during the season. On April 24, Pedro was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 7-4 victory over the Astros at Shea. He pitched six innings for the win in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Dodgers at Shea on May 6. Astacio also hurled six innings and recorded a win in the Mets’ 6-3 victory over the Phillies on May 22 at Shea.

Astacio pitched in five games with the World Champion Boston Red Sox in 2004. He split the 2005 between the Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres, appearing in 12 games for each team. Pedro concluded his major league career with the Washington Nationals in 2006.
