Paul Gibson was a pitcher for the Mets in 1992 and 1993. He appeared in 51 games with the team. Gibson had 61 strikeouts and one win as a Met.
Gibson came to the Mets in a trade with the Tigers in January of ’92. He pitched 62 innings during the season. At Cincinnati on May 7, Paul struck out three batters in two scoreless innings in a 4-2 Mets loss to the Reds. He pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a 6-1 Mets defeat to the Braves on May 30 at Shea Stadium. Gibson had five innings of shutout relief in the Mets’ 9-2 loss to the Cubs at Shea on June 25. He also had three scoreless innings in a 10-1 Mets loss on September 21 at Chicago.
In ’93, Gibson made eight relief appearances for the Mets. At Chicago on May 31, he had five strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings to get the win in the Mets’ 9-5 victory over the Cubs. Paul was released by the Mets on June 11.
Gibson completed the ’93 season with the Yankees. He pitched in 34 more games for the Yanks in 1994 and 1996 to conclude his major league career.
