After winning the first game of the Series, the Mets looked to go two games up on the Dodgers. Tom Glavine took the mound and pitched six innings of four-hit scoreless baseball. Glavine's effort was enough to lead the Mets to a 4-1 win over Los Angeles for a 2-0 Series lead.

The Mets scored two runs against Dodgers' starter Hong-Chih Kuo. Both runs were scored as outs were made with Endy Chavez coming home on a groundout in the third inning and Jose Valentin scoring on Paul LoDuca's sacrifice fly in the fifth. Against reliever Brett Tomko, they scored another run on an out in the sixth as Cliff Floyd crossed the plate on a force play. Jose Reyes then singled off Tomko to score Valentin with the fourth run for the Mets.

In the eighth, Wilson Betemit hit a home run off reliever Aaron Heilman for the Dodgers' only run of the game. Billy Wagner closed the game in the ninth for the save, giving the Mets a two-game lead as the Series moved to the west coast.
