Mike Torrez was a pitcher for the Mets in 1983 and 1984. He pitched 260 innings in 48 games with the team. Torrez recorded 11 wins and 110 strikeouts as a Met.

Torrez had sixteen years of major league experience before joining the Mets for the '83 season. He led all Met pitchers with 34 starts and five complete games for the year. At Cincinnati on April 27, Mike had a run-scoring single and got his first win with the Mets in a 2-1 victory over the Reds. He pitched a complete game three-hitter with nine strikeouts for a 5-1 Mets win over the Phillies in the second game of a doubleheader on June 26 at Shea Stadium. Torrez pitched a complete 10-inning game for the win in the Mets' 2-1 triumph over the Braves at Shea on July 26. He had 11 shutout innings pitched, but got a no-decision in a 1-0 Mets victory over the Pirates in a doubleheader nightcap on July 31 at Shea. Mike pitched eight scoreless innings and got the win in the Mets' 4-3 triumph at San Francisco on August 21. He was the winning pitcher in a 6-3 Mets victory over the Giants on August 27 at Shea. Torrez also had a complete game win in a 7-1 Mets triumph at Los Angeles on August 31.

In 1984, Torrez made eight starts and one relief appearance. He had 37 and two-thirds innings pitched during the season. At Montreal on June 9, Mike pitched six innings and got the win in a 6-5 Mets victory over the Expos. He pitched the ninth inning of the Mets' 6-3 loss to the Pirates on June 12 at Shea in his final game with the team. Torrez was released by the Mets on June 22. He then made two relief appearances for the Oakland Athletics to end his career.
