The Mets concluded a three-game series with the Cardinals on a Wednesday night at Shea Stadium. After splitting two 11-inning games, the teams were limited to 6-innings due to rain. The Mets came out with a 2-0 win as Tom Glavine pitched an abbreviated one-hitter.

The Mets scored their runs in the bottom of the first inning. Paul Lo Duca got a single and David Wright homered off St. Louis starter Anthony Reyes. For the rest of the game, Reyes did not give up another hit to the Mets.

Glavine allowed a single to Scott Rolen in the top of the second. With two out in the inning, Tom walked Aaron Miles before getting Brendan Ryan to ground out to shortstop Jose Reyes. Glavine then retired the Cards in order in each of the next four innings.

The game was held up by rain in the middle of the sixth. Following a 2-hour and 25-minute delay, it was officially stopped with the Mets declared the winner. Glavine had an abridged one-hit shutout for his seventh win of the season.
