1962: Marv Throneberry hits a two-run homer in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 5-4 win over the Cardinals in the first game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds. The Cardinals win the second game, 3-2.

1964: The All-Star Game is held at Shea Stadium. The National League wins, 7-4, on a ninth inning home run by the Phillies' Johnny Callison. It is the only All-Star Game ever played at Shea.

1968: The Mets and Phillies split a doubleheader at Philadelphia. The Phils win the opener, 4-3, and the Mets take the nightcap, 4-2. Tom Seaver records his only major league save in the Mets' Game 2 victory.

1994: Jason Jacome pitches a shutout for his first major league win as the Mets defeat the Dodgers, 3-0, at Los Angeles.

2001: The Mets get three consecutive run-scoring singles in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the Yankees, 3-0.

2007: The Mets defeat the Astros, 5-3, in 17 innings at Houston.
