1965: In Wes Westrum's debut as team manager, the Mets defeat the Phillies, 8-1, in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. The Phis with the nightcap, 3-1.

1971: Cleon Jones hits the 1,000th home run in Mets' history in a 7-6 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

1978: Craig Swan pitches a complete game in a 9-2 Mets win over the Reds at Shea Stadium. In the game, Pete Rose extends his hitting streak to 38 games to set a new National League 20th century record.

1979: Craig Swan pitches a six-hit shutout as the Mets defeat the Giants, 3-0, at San Francisco.

2001: In a game against the Marlins, the Mets leave 16 runners on base to set a new team record.
