1963: Norm Sherry singles home the winning run in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 4-3 victory over the Colt .45s at the Polo Grounds.

1987: Dwight Gooden pitches his first shutout of the season with a 9-0 win over the Reds at Shea Stadium.

1994: John Franco becomes the Mets' all-time leader in saves in the team's 5-4 win over the Padres at Shea Stadium.

1997: Steve Phillips is promoted to General Manager by the Mets.

2006: The Mets defeat the Cubs, 13-7, at Wrigley Field. Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran hit grand slams in an 11-run sixth inning.

2011: Scott Hairston drives in five runs in the Mets' 11-2 win over the Phillies at Citi Field.
