1972: In his first major league game, Dave Schneck hits a game-winning two-run homer for a 3-2 Mets victory over the Padres at San Diego.

1988: The Mets begin a four-game series with a 9-8 win over the Braves in 11 innings at Atlanta.

1989: Sid Fernandez struck out 16 batters against the Atlanta Braves, setting a new record by a Mets' lefthander.

1995: The Mets get 20 hits in a 13-4 win over the Colorado Rockies at Shea Stadium.

2000: The Mets defeat the Red Sox, 6-4, at Boston. Mike Piazza and Melvin Mora drive in all six runs for the Mets.

2001: Glendon Rusch and Armando Benitez pitch a combined one-hitter in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Red Sox at Shea Stadium.

2005: David Wright has his first two-homer game of his career and Mike Piazza hits a three-run homer in the eighth inning as the Mets defeat the Braves, 6-3, at Shea Stadium.
