The Mets played the Rockies on a Saturday afternoon at Shea Stadium. The crowd of 54,137 witnessed a true team effort as five Met pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout. The Mets defeated Colorado, 3-0.
Pedro Martinez started off with three scoreless innings. In the fourth, Martinez issued a leadoff walk to Matt Holliday and a one-out single to Brad Hawpe before getting Chris Iannetta to ground into a double play. The Mets scored in the bottom of the inning when Fernando Tatis singled home Carlos Beltran, but Pedro was removed for a pinch-hitter due to an injured shoulder.
Mets' reliever Carlos Muniz retired the Rockies in order in the top of the fifth. In the bottom half, Jose Reyes hit a home run off Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez. A double by Brian Schneider scored Carlos Delgado in the sixth to make it a three-run lead for the Mets.
Aaron Heilman and Scott Schoeneweis retired the Rockies in order in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. In the ninth, Billy Wagner added another 1-2-3 inning to finish off the game. The Mets had a victory on a one-hitter comprised of five different pitchers.

- The win for Muniz was the first of his major league career.
