Julio Valera

Julio Valera was a pitcher for the Mets in 1990 and 1991. He made three starts and two relief appearances for the team. Valera had one win and seven strikeouts as a Met.
Valera made his major league debut on September 1, 1990. He pitched six innings and got the win in a 6-5 Mets victory over the Giants at Shea Stadium. Julio was tagged with the loss in a 7-1 Mets defeat at Pittsburgh on September 6. He also pitched five inning of the Mets’ 10-8 win over the Cardinals on September 11 at Shea.
In 1991, Valera pitched 26 games for the Mets’ AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. He had two innings pitched in relief for the parent club during the year. Julio was dealt to the Angels shortly after the beginning of the 1992 season. He spent two seasons with the Anaheim-based team. In 1996, Julio appeared in 31 games for the Kansas City Royals. He later pitched three more seasons for minor and independent league teams to conclude his career.
