Jorge Velandia

Jorge Velandia was an infielder for the Mets in 2000, 2001 and 2003. He played in a total of 47 games with the team. Velandia had 11 hits and eight runs scored as a Met.

Velandia came to the Mets from the Oakland Athletics during the 2000 season. He had seven at bats with the team over the rest of the season. Jorge had a run scored in the Mets' 8-2 win over the Braves at Shea Stadium on September 28. His only run of the '01 season came in an 8-6 Mets loss to the Expos on October 5 at Shea.

After spending the better part of two seasons at AAA-level Norfolk, Velandia rejoined the Mets in '03. At Shea on September 3, he had a double, a triple and three runs batted in as the Mets defeated the Braves, 9-3. Jorge had a two-run single in the Mets' 8-6 loss at Philadelphia on September 6. He also scored the winning run in a 5-4 Mets victory at Montreal on September 13.

From 2004 to 2006, Velandia played in the minor league. He spent time with the Devil Rays, Blue Jays and Indians over the next two years. Jorge completed his career with the Phillies' AAA-level team at Lehigh Valley (Allentown, PA) in 2009.
