John Sullivan

John Sullivan was a catcher for the Mets in 1967. He played in 65 games for the team and accumulated 32 hits. Sullivan had 6 runs batted in as a Met.

Sullivan was selected by the Mets from the Detroit Tigers in the Rule V draft after the 1966 season. In '67, he served in a utility role. John singled off Jim Bunning in his first game with the Mets on April 15 at Philadelphia. On May 2, he got a run-scoring single in the 12th inning to give the Mets a 3-2 win over the Giants at Shea Stadium. Sullivan drove in three runs with two singles in a 5-4 Mets loss at San Francisco on July 25. He also had a double and an RBI single in a 5-1 Mets win at Houston on August 1.

Sullivan appeared in 12 games for the Phillies in 1968 to end his career as a player. He later became a major league coach. John spent 12 seasons on the staff of the Toronto Blue Jays, the last two of which the team won World Series championships in 1992 and 1993.
