John Strohmayer was a pitcher for the Mets in 1973 and 1974. He appeared in 8 games as a member of the team. Strohmayer pitched a total of 11 innings with the Mets.
After four seasons with the Montreal Expos, Strohmayer came to the Mets on July 16, 1973. He made his debut with the team on that day with a scoreless inning in Atlanta. John shut down the Braves for an inning again the next night in the Mets' 8-7 comeback win. At San Francisco on August 11, Strohmayer pitched two shutout innings in the Mets' eventual 8-7 loss to the Giants in 13 innings.
Strohmayer spent the 1974 season with the Mets' AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. He joined the parent club in September and pitched one scoreless inning against the Cubs on September 14. This was Strohmayer's final appearance of his career.
