John DeMerit

John DeMerit was an outfielder for the Mets in 1962. He played in 14 games with the team. DeMerit had three hits and three runs scored as a Met.

DeMerit joined the Mets in the expansion draft on October 10, 1961. He had a single and a walk in a 7-2 Mets defeat to the Pirates at the Polo Grounds on April 15. In the Mets' first home win ever on April 28, John scored a run as the Mets defeated the Phillies, 8-6. He also singled, homered and scored twice in a 6-5 Mets win over the Cubs in 11 innings on May 16 at the Polo Grounds.
