John Christensen

John Christensen was an outfielder for the Mets in 1984 and 1985. He played in 56 games over his two seasons with the team. Christensen had 24 hits for 41 total bases as a Met.
Christensen began his major league career with five game appearances for the Mets in 1984. He doubled for his first major league hit and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in a 13-5 Mets loss at Philadelphia on September 19. John also singled, doubled and had a pair of RBIs in the Mets' 7-1 win over the Phillies on September 26 at Shea Stadium.
In 1985, Christensen got to bat 113 times for the Mets. He hit three home runs with 13 RBIs during the season. John scored two runs in the Mets' 6-0 win over the Pirates at Shea on April 26. In a four-game series at Philadelphia from June 10 to June 13, he had two home runs and seven RBIs against the Phillies. Christensen singled and homered in a 5-3 Mets victory over the Cubs on June 20 at Shea. He also had a double and a run scored in a 5-4 Mets win over the Pirates at Shea on July 2.
Following the '85 season, Christensen was dealt to the Boston Red Sox in an eight-player trade. He spent one year in the minor leagues and played in 53 games for the Seattle Mariners in 1987. John appeared in 23 games for the Minnesota Twins in 1988. He completed his career with the Twins' AAA-level team in Portland, Oregon in 1989.
