John Candelaria

John Candelaria was a pitcher for the Mets in 1987. He appeared in three games for the team during the year. Candelaria pitched 12 and one-third innings and recorded two wins as a member of the Mets.

After 12 seasons with the Pirates and Angels, Candelaria came to the Mets in his 13th major league season. He made his Mets debut with a return to Pittsburgh on September 18. John was removed in the second inning of the game and got a no-decision in the Mets' 10-9 loss to the Pirates. On September 23, he was the winning pitcher in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Expos at Shea Stadium. Candelaria also got the win in a combined shutout with Rick Aguilera and Randy Myers as the Mets came away with a 1-0 triumph on September 28 at Philadelphia.

Candelaria pitched in the major leagues for six more years. He concluded his career with his original team, the Pirates, in 1993.
