Joe Hicks

Joe Hicks was an outfielder for the Mets in 1963. He had 36 hits for 59 total bases in 56 games played with the team. Hicks hit 5 home runs and drove in 22 runs as a Met.

Hicks played four seasons with the White Sox and Senators before joining the Mets in '63. He singled twice and doubled in the Mets' 14-5 win over the Colt .45s in the first game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds on July 15. Joe hit a home run in each of the Mets' next three games, the second of which was a two-run blast in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 9-7 win over the Giants on July 17. At Los Angeles on July 30, Hicks had three singles and an RBI in the Mets' 5-1 victory over the Dodgers. He doubled, homered and drove in four runs in an 11-4 Mets win over the Cubs in the second game of a twinbill at home on August 11. Joe also had a pinch-hit home run in an 8-6 Mets loss to the Phillies at the Polo Grounds on September 17.

Hicks played the 1964 and 1965 seasons with the Mets' AAA-level team in Buffalo. He concluded his career with the Buffalo team (as a Reds' affiliate) in 1966.
