The Mets traded outfielder Joe Christopher to the Boston Red Sox for Ed Bressoud on November 30, 1965. Christopher was one of the Mets top players in 1964, but his production dropped the following year. Bressoud had been one of Boston's top players before a sub-par '65 season.
For the Mets, Bressoud played 133 games in 1966 and hit .225 with 10 home runs and 49 runs batted in. He also led all Met players with 5 triples. He was then dealt to the Cardinals, with whom he finished his career in 1967. Christopher appeared in 12 games for the Sox in '66 and never played in the major leagues again.
