Jimmie Schaffer

Jimmie Schaffer was a catcher for the Mets in 1965. He played in 24 games with the team. Schaffer had five hits as a Met.

Schaffer came to the Mets in a trade with the Chicago White Sox during the '65 season. In his first game with the team on July 28, he got a single in a 7-2 Mets loss to the Cubs in a doubleheader opener at Wrigley Field. Two days later, Jimmie singled in a 5-3 Mets loss at Philadelpia. He hit a double in the Mets' 7-1 defeat to the Cubs at Shea Stadium on August 7. Schaffer singled in the Mets' 3-0 win at Houston on August 15. He also had a double in a 3-1 Mets loss in the second game of a twinbill at St. Louis on September 5.

On February 22, 1966, Schaffer was traded to the Phillies. He played two seasons with the Philadelphia team. Jimmie concluded his career with the Cincinnati Reds in 1968.
