Jim Tatum

Jim Tatum was an infielder, outfielder and catcher for the Mets in 1998. He played in 35 games with the team. Tatum had nine hits for 20 total bases as a Met.
Tatum signed with the Mets as a free agent after four seasons in the major leagues. He served as a utility player by appearing at five different positons in 1998. Jim had a two-run triple and a run scored in the Mets’ 14-0 win at Cincinnati on April 19. He hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 10-7 victory over the Astros on April 22 at Shea Stadium. Tatum had a two-run homer in the Mets’ 4-3 loss to the Astros at Shea on April 27. He also had a pinch-hit triple in an 8-2 Mets win at Florida on May 27.
Following the ’98 season, Tatum signed with the Colorado Rockies as a free agent. He played for the Rockies’ AAA-level affiliate in Colorado Springs in 1999. Jim played in the Giants’ system and in Mexico to end his career in 2000.
